METIS sensors work according to the laser scan or "shading" principle.
One sensor consists of emitter and receiver. In between lies the field of measuring. The width of the "shading" (e.g. behind an object) or the light (e.g.through a gap) can be measured.
Single sensors measure diameter or position,
depending on combination and placement you may measure ovality,
thickness, width, height,
length or even straightness.
METIS sensors are available in connection with display and evaluation units or as models with Digital Signal Processor (DSP). The display units offer digital and analog outputs as well as limit switches and
mathematical operations for combined systems, e.g. multi-axis applications.

|
Digital workflow from CCD to evaluation software eliminates the error sources of analog measurement. Still, METIS sensors offer an analog output 4-20 mA.
METIS sensors can be connected by RS485, e.g. to further LAP sensors, to I/O modules, encoders ... . Optional you may use interfaces to Ethernet UDP, Profibus DP or RS232.
The DSP models may be used in LAP SynchroNet networks, combined with other sensors, I/O modules, encoders, interfaces to Ethernet UDP or Profibus DP.
