ATLAS laser displacement sensors work by the triangulation principle of measurement.
Single sensors measure displacement, depending on combination and placement you may measure
thickness, width, height,
length, straightness, flatness,
profile or diameter.
Based on a Digital Signal Processor (DSP) the intelligent sensor controls the exposure of the CMOS and the output power of the laser source.
Due to this, LAP laser sensors measure extremely precise and fast, even if surface characteristics like color or reflectivity are changing.
Parameter like measurement speed or filters are handled directly in the sensor's DSP.

|
Digital workflow from CMOS to evaluation software eliminates the error sources of analog measurement. Still, ATLAS sensors offer an analog output 4-20 mA.
ATLAS sensors can be connected by RS485, e.g. to further LAP sensors, to I/O modules, encoders ... . Optional you may use interfaces to Ethernet UDP, Profibus DP or RS232.
