New sales manager metals industries
 

Dr. Axel Schulz will be responsible for managing and expanding the worldwide sales network for laser systems used in the steel and non-ferrous metals industry.

With Axel Schulz on the post of Sales Manager, LAP will continue expanding its business area "steel and NF metals". Axel Schulz will be responsible for the sales business of laser-based systems used along the complete value chain of the metals industry for non-contact measurements of geometric dimensions such as distance, width, thickness and flatness in flat production and diameter, contour and wall thickness in long production.

On the basis of laser triangulation sensors, laser scan micrometers and light section systems, LAP′s systems solutions handle highly complex measuring tasks in the manufacture of semi-finished products. Applications range from continuous casting all the way through to the packed product.

Following his research activities at the Universities of Lisbon, Graz and Athens and his doctoral studies in the field of thermal process technology at the Technical University of Braunschweig, Axel Schulz gained vast experience in industrial plant engineering during 15 years on various executive positions in sales and project management. Thanks to this experience, he understands the challenges posed to optical measuring equipment in continuous casting and rolling mill environments. "LAP′s strength is that the supplied systems provide highest precision measuring results even under most challenging environmental conditions. We develop and manufacture our sensors in-house. Thus we are in a position to realize customized solutions that are optimally tailored to the individual requirements of our customers."

Being a highly experienced sales expert, Schulz is looking forward to his new responsibilities. "One of my objectives is to develop new markets for LAP, for example, in the aluminium and copper industries, where – like in steel production - geometric dimensions must be measured with great precision. Another area of focus will be to further grow our existing, international sales and service network, especially in the Middle East and South-East Asia."
