Plate profile measurement and cut optimization using LAP CROPTIMIZER® in a plate rolling line at Ilsenburger Grobblech GmbH.
The primary goal of the measurement system is to predetermine the size of each raw slab, considering the rolling technology requirements, such that the finished plates would optimally fit into the raw plates. In addition to the plate geometry,
flatness is also a crucial quality parameter.
LAP measuring system measure the width, length and flatness of the plates behind the exit of the hot leveller. These values constitute the complete profile of the plates, including the shapes of the head and tail crop. Other shape anomalies like saber,
necking and wedges are captured as well.
Two laser triangulation sensors mounted on either side of the roller table are used for measuring the width and the shape. To guarantee reliable measurements, even in case of thin plates, these sensors are equipped with light band optics.
The measurement system continuously archives the measurement data of all plates in a database, providing traceability of all sequences in the process chain.
