Thickness profile measurement of plates at AG der Dillinger Httenwerke.

The thickness profile of plates between 0.4" and 20" (10 - 500 mm) thickness and width of 63" to 213" (1.600 to 5.400 mm) are measured behind the hot leveller in two tracks.

The sensing technology consists of two pairs of laser sensors, opposing each other and incorporated in a C-shaped measuring frame. The system is designed to cover different plate dimensions.

Using the actual measured temperature along the plate and the steel grade specific shrinkage coefficient, the thickness values are converted to and displayed as cold dimensions.
