Length measurement of slabs or billets can be placed on continuous roller tables as well as on roller tables with "death end".
At the "death end", measurement is done by using one triangulation sensor ANTARIS looking perpendicular on the slab front. One or several cascaded laser light barriers detect the rearside of the slab or billet.
With the signal of the light barrier and the measured distance value on the frontside the length is calculated.
Length measurement during running through is done by placing the triangulation sensor beside the roller table.

Again, the rearside of the slab or billet is detected by light barriers. For getting the length, the angle of the sensor is compensated mathematically, and the calculated value is combined with the signals of the light barriers.
