For slab with measurement in combination with side profile scanning, triangulation sensors ANTARIS SCAN are used.

The placement of the scanning sensors is similar to the normal width measurement, on opposite sides of the roller table. But the scanning laser beam does not only measure at one point. Instead it moves up and down over the complete edge. This way, monitoring the edge quality of the slabs will be expanded to a 2-dimensional measurement. Vertical scan range and scan frequency, will be adjusted in relation to the nominal thickness and in relation to the plate position on the roller table.

Beside width, as additional result information is gathered about the shape of the edge, e.g. concave or convex.
