LAP successful at LIGNA 2025: Laser projection systems for smart woodworking
LAP GmbH Laser Applikationen reflects on a highly successful presence at LIGNA 2025, the world's premier woodworking and timber processing trade fair, held from May 26 to 30 in Hannover. Under the theme "Laser guidance for smarter woodworking," LAP captivated visitors with in-depth product showcases and expert insights into how LAP's advanced laser systems redefine production processes to be faster, more efficient, and more precise.
Flawless quality: Laser-guided prefab house production
LAP showcased its comprehensive suite of line lasers and integrated laser projection solutions, which boost precision and efficiency across the entire woodworking value chain—from sawmills to timber roof construction and glulam truss manufacturing to prefabricated house production. Attendees saw firsthand how laser guidance streamlines manual processes by eliminating measurements and markings—saving time, reducing errors, and enhancing product quality.
"Our success at LIGNA 2025 highlights the growing demand for smart laser projection solutions in the woodworking industry," said Martin Dronsek, Head of Business Unit Industry at LAP. "Our laser technologies do more than serve as tools; they enable increased efficiency and quality throughout the entire production chain."
Live experience of the LAP Ecosystem
The highlight of LAP's exhibition was the live demonstration of the next-generationCAD-PRO Xpert laser projection system. The advanced laser projector sets a new benchmark in laser-guided production processes with its multicolor projection capabilities, accelerated processing speed, and unparalleled precision. CAD-PRO Xpert delivers precision template projection based on CAD data, enabling components' accurate positioning and alignment. The laser projector also visualizes drill holes for power sockets or cut-outs for doors and windows, significantly streamlining manual tasks in wood element production.
LAP has expanded its laser projection systems by introducing the new PRO-SOFT 6 software. The latest PRO-SOFT 6 MT version adds multitasking capabilities for the wood industry, allowing multiple laser projection tasks to run simultaneously. This improvement greatly enhances workflow efficiency, especially for complex projects such as glulam truss production.
DTEC-PRO, LAP's advanced camera system, complements the LAP Ecosystem. It features automatic laser calibration and enables the capture and storage of live images for production workflow control and documentation. Ensuring seamless process monitoring is crucial in maintaining quality throughout manufacturing.
Robust positioning lasers for demanding sawmill environments
LAP also presented its range of robust XtrAlign lasers, specifically designed for the harsh conditions of sawmill operations. Encased in a stainless-steel housing with IP67 and 10K impact resistance ratings, these positioning lasers offer outstanding durability for seamless integration into a wide range of saws. The projected laser lines, accurate to ± 0.05 mm per meter of line length, enhance the positioning of logs and boards in front of the saw. This results in precise cutting and reduces material waste. Furthermore, the improved alignment facilitates quicker feeding, making these techniques vital for increasing productivity in sawmills.
Looking ahead: Continuing the innovation journey
LAP reaffirms its mission to drive innovation in laser technology. Backed by decades of experience and a strong global network, the company is well-positioned to support customers in the woodworking industry in their journey toward more intelligent, efficient, and precise production.
