World's first 4D EAGLE S 50 in industrial operation
Badische Stahlwerke GmbH (BSW), a leading manufacturer of high-quality reinforcing steel, is providing the industrial environment for the first practical application of the 4D EAGLE S 50 measuring system at its steel plant in Kehl, Germany. This system, jointly developed by LAP and KOCKS, is installed in the wire rolling mill, allowing for the advancement of innovative measurement technologies under real production conditions.
For BSW, the installation of the 4D EAGLE S represents a significant step towards optimizing its rolling processes. The system is being used in the wire line, where wire rod and reinforcing steel are produced, enabling testing under actual operating conditions. This will provide valuable insights for further development of future measurement and quality assurance solutions.
The 4D EAGLE S 50 system is specifically designed to measure long products with smaller diameters starting from 4 mm. The laser-based measuring system captures detailed profile and surface data across various shapes, including round, hexagonal, square, and flat profiles. The measurement data is then transmitted to the SMART CORE X software for visualization and analysis, providing operators with immediate insights into the production process. This enables close monitoring of the dimensional accuracy and surface quality of the rolled products, supporting consistent product quality and process optimization.
The collaboration among BSW, LAP, and KOCKS underscores their shared interest in innovative solutions for profile and surface measurement in the steel industry. For LAP and KOCKS, this project marks another important milestone in their technology partnership.
